Finding gift ideas for mom can be a challenge.
Depending on what holidays you celebrate, you could be looking for a present to give to your mom on her anniversary or birthday, mother’s day, christmas and so on, or maybe you’re just looking for a gift for her because you want her to know that you’re thinking about her and that you love her. So that means that at least a few times a year, you’re likely going to face the dilemma of what to buy her.
We want to buy our moms gifts that show we care, but something that also has significance. Cards, flowers and chocolates are always nice, but giving her a gift that she’ll use regularly will give her an ongoing connection with you and show your thoughtfulness toward her.
Spend some time when it comes to choosing a gift for your mom. Show her that you love her and appreciate her. Show your gratitude for what she has done for you, and will likely continue to do for you for the rest of her life, by choosing a gift that shows you really know who she is. Not just the mom, but the woman. Reflect on how she likes to spend her spare time. What does she enjoy doing? Does she like to garden? Is she happiest in her kitchen? Does she like to read a book or watch TV while she’s wrapped in a comfy first throw?
You get the idea, right? The key is to understand what your mother enjoys. What kind of things hold her interest. And then choose your gifts accordingly.
If you give her a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers, they’re soon gone. So give her a gift she can enjoy every day, instead of something that will fade and wither.
Does this mean you have to give her some sort of luxury gift? Absolutely not. Remember, what you are trying to do here is make a connection, and that can be done with an inexpensive or cheap gift. The point here is that the gift has meaning for your mom in her day to day life. The cost of the gift is irrelevant. Does she drink tea? You could buy her a teapot or a kettle for a relatively small amount of money, and she would think of you every time she makes herself a cup of tea, and that’s what you want.
So take a minute and think of who your mom is. Is she a homebody? Is she still young and funky at heart—or really still young and funky? Does she have a hobby? Think about how she likes to spend her time, think about what interests her, and you’ll likely be able to choose the perfect gifts for her time after time. Mom is unique, so find something equally unique for her. Be creative!
